A New Concept in Retirement
North Wind Stables offers a new and exciting concept for your retired
show horse. We at North Wind Stables specialize in the showing of American
Saddlebreds
and
have retired our share of older champions of the show ring. We understand
that not every horse is happy being thrown outside and expected to
be just an average
horse again. We noticed this with our horses that while some did enjoy
the pasture life as retirement many of ours did not. It was at this
time we felt
it necessary
to design a program around these horses.
Our program consists of an effort to allow the horse to be outside
but when they no longer enjoy being there they are brought in. All
their
lives these
horses
have been kept clean and have been on a schedule. We feel it is imperative
to keep the older horses groomed and kept on a schedule even if it
requires LIGHT
work. We customize feeding programs, turnout/work programs, any medical
attention required on a daily basis even down to fly spray and blankets
on your horse
depending on the season to maintain their dignity. We provide fans
in the summer and warm
drinking water in the winter. Remember it is the small things that
make all the difference.
Part of our success in the show ring is by choosing the correct division
for every horse. We feel it is important that the type of retirement
your horse has
should be his choice not yours. Please feel free to contact us concerning
your horses needs. We offer small turnout pastures with or without
grass, turnouts
can be private, near, or with other horses. When weather is not suitable
for your horse to be outside they will be turned out in our large indoor
ring.
